Everyone is invited to join the Family Roots Wisconsin when they hold their monthly genealogy meeting on the third Saturday of each month at 9:00am. Meetings include a time to share news, a time to share genealogy research techniques, and sometimes a speaker.
This month's meeting features UW-Oshkosh Archivist Joshua Ranger, who will explain how to search the UW system online catalog.
This month's genealogy meeting features UW-Oshkosh Archivist Joshua Ranger, who will explain how to search the university’s catalog for genealogy resources. The UW-Oshkosh library is one of thirteen Area Research Centers, essentially a branch of the Wisconsin Historical Society. Its collection includes a portion of the Society's collection, particularly local history materials. The key to finding all that is available is the catalog. Mr. Ranger will show us how to make sense of this large and, at times, complicated system to identify records relevant to family history. Mr. Ranger has been the University Archivist at the UW Oshkosh Archives and Area Research Center since 1998. Prior to that, he worked at the Wisconsin Historical Society.
Chromebooks are available for checkout from the library if you need one to attend. To participate, join the meeting from your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
