Called to order at 4:04pm by Chair Halverson
Present: Trustee Englebert, Trustee Franzoi, Trustee Golz, Chair Halverson, Secretary Lane, Trustee Witt, Superintendent of Schools Zimmerman and Teen Rep E. Lane
Absent: Trustee Stojanovic and Trustee Turner
Also Present: Director Kopetsky, Programming Services Manager Moore-Nokes, Library Services Manager Raschke and Business Manager Dreyer
Public Comment/Communication
⦁ Patron Bob Erickson passed away.
⦁ We received an unrestricted grant from the Theda and Tamblin Clark Smith Family Foundation, Inc.
Consent Business
A motion was made by Golz, seconded by Englebert to approve the Library Board of Trustees meeting minutes from October 24, 2023. Corrections: Welcome to Trustee Englebert. Trustees agreed to change the December meeting to Monday, December 18, 2023 at 4:00pm. Motion carried unanimously with the corrections.
Authorization of Bills
A motion was made by Lane, seconded by Witt to authorize payment of the November 2023 bills from the 2023 budget and endowment account. Motion carried unanimously.
Updates
Planning Process Update
⦁ The library budget was approved by the city council which includes the first year of the renovation project.
⦁ Modifications are being made to the pitch deck.
⦁ We are having discussions with potential funders.
Friends of the Elisha D. Smith Public Library Update
⦁ The Friends group has 46 members.
⦁ The used book sale raised $1,276.70.
⦁ The officers will be meeting on Monday, December 4.
New Business
Director’s Report
⦁ We are wrapping up our end-of-year purchases.
⦁ Programming continues to be busy through the end of December.
⦁ Halverson suggested we start discussing our strategic plan for the next 5 years.
October Statistics
Circulation of print materials was strong in October for most categories. The use of library services continues to surpass last year by a substantial margin. One of our door counters is not working, making our door count look significantly lower than last year.
2023 Budget Status
Trustees reviewed the 2023 budget status. We are on target with year-end projections.
Staff Reports
⦁ We are working on reconciling our year end materials budget and working on next years.
⦁ In December, we will be conducting employee reviews.
⦁ Staff is working on using up floating holiday and vacation time.
⦁ We are working on programming for January and February. In the future, we will need to be flexible based on the building project.
Our next Board of Trustees meeting will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 4:00pm.
