FINANCE COMMITTEE
ELISHA D. SMITH PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
July 14, 2015
Called to order at 9:00am by Murray
Present: Murray, Eisen, Englebert, Golz and VanderHeyden
Absent: None
Also Present: Director Lenz and Dreyer (Administrative Assistant)
Public Comment/Communication:
Adam Alix, Deputy Director of Municipal Operations, submitted an email message with a list of capital improvement projects for 2016, including potential projects such as a replacement of elevator lift cylinders, HVAC systems controllers/panels and software, light tubes and daylight sensing, and an updated camera system/DVR. These projects require estimates.
2016 Library Budget:
The working draft of the 2016 library budget was reviewed. The committee recommended increasing the library materials budget to $185,000. Eisen asked about the last DPI report and the number of registered residents and nonresidents. Lenz will check on those numbers and work with city personnel staff to get better numbers for wages, salaries, and premium pay. The draft allows for step increases but no cost of living adjustment.
The committee will meet again in September and review the revised working draft. Once there are more definitive numbers, it will be brought to the board for review. It was suggested that Lenz and Murray sit down with the Mayor and make a case for the budget that is agreed upon by the trustees.
Adjournment
Motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:40am was made by VanderHeyden and seconded by Eisen. Motion carried unanimously.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Dreyer, recording secretary
