We're Open at 440 First Street
Thank you to all of our community partners in making our renovation project a success!
Partners:
- Architect - EUA
- Construction company - Miron Construction
- Furniture - Lerdahl and School Speciality
Budget:
- $9 million, mostly private local donations, New roofing and sidewalks added to the project with no cost to city/taxpayers
Timeline:
- May 2024- library closed
- June - opened temporary location at UW Fox
- June - January 2025 - construction
- December 2024 - closed temporary location at UW Fox
- January 2025 - staff moved back to building
- February 2025 - reopening!
Patio furniture and landscaping will be added in the spring-by Schmalz Custom Landscaping
Project highlights:
- SMITHworks maker space on main floor
- Additional natural light
- 5 additional study/conference rooms on the main floor
- Entrance and gathering areas
- Teen space
